hardy monument
Just back from cyclequesting for two days in Dorset,
I got the train from london to dorchester and then cycled to Hardy's monument, not thomas hardy but Nelson's Hardy.
Went through Poundbury on the way, Prince Charles' mock georgian township, almost deserted and half finished, like a film set.
Nice road to the monument but very steep last section.
Glastobury style catering truck in the car park, a very welcome cup of coffee.
Then back down the hill and off to Swanage. Hadn't bought a map, so relied on gmaps walking route option. Probably the quickest.
Went through Bovington Tank Training grounds see pic of sign.
Getting late so took the a road to swanage, extremely steep hill up to YH.
YH v nice, but food not great,
35 miles in total started at 12 finished at 5.30
In the morning cycled and walked down to the next question at the globe on durlston head, then cycled to poole via the ferry, chain operated 75p on a bicycle, what a bargain.
Absolutely pissing it down, got to poole station and then cycled on the bournemouth.
Got train back to london, home about 7 pm
18 miles
